Why Does a Granite Company Need a Blog?

We at Granite Granniesare so excited about our new site! We’re getting the Grannies into this century, slowly but surely. So many people connect via the internet now. Home owners share ideas for projects on forums, research the reputations contracting specialists through search engines and exclusive sites like Angie’s List, and they often contact these businesses via email. The internet has connected customers and business in amazing new ways.

Our Team

Granite Grannies’ goal is to bring together the quality and personality of a family owned business (and it really is; if you stop by during the summer, you’ll see me, Lori’s daughter, in the office and my brothers helping out in the shop) with the efficiency of a modern business and the customer convenience it provides. We started out as a family run granite shop focusing on quality work and friendly, helpful customer service, and we plan to stay that way

Small, local businesses are important to communities.  Often, they are landmarks in a neighborhood. They sponsor events at the local middle school, know all their customers by name, and keep in touch with many of them years later. When these important local businesses take a back seat to their streamlined big box competitors, the area loses flavor and slowly, but surely, an appreciation of small-scale, quality work. This brings me to the reason for our blog: community. Blogging for us is about keeping in touch with our customers

Our other team

and inviting new customers to become part of our community. The Maryland, D.C., Virginia area boasts a wonderfully diverse population living together in a beautiful (as a MD native, I’m tempted to say the most beautiful) part of the country. Granite Grannies isn’t interested in becoming the next corporate home improvement giant; we’re interested in becoming a community fixture. We want to make your kitchens beautiful because this is our neighborhood too. We sponsor our local t-ball team because you and your family are our neighbors, and the future of the next generation is important to us.

So thanks in advance for subscribing to our blog! I promise that from now on the blogs will be less philosophical and more practical. Short bits on the origins of granite, cool ideas for kitchen and bath décor, etc.  Again, I’m so excited about our new website! Thanks for visiting, and I’ll see you around.
