Unique Stones Tuesday: Nacarado Quarzite, Red Dragon Granite, & More

Nacarado Quartzite

There are so many amazing natural stones on the market today. Whether you are replacing your kitchen countertops, designing a custom fireplace surround, or just installing a small bath vanity, the choices are limitless. And that can actually make choosing more difficult. So, we’re starting a new web series to help you sort through the noise. Each week, we’ll feature a few unique stones that we’ve recently installed or that are currently on the market waiting for the right project. If you’d like to know more about any of the stones we feature or have a question about a granite, marble, or quartzite we haven’t mentioned, feel free to ask a question by commenting below or shooting us an email via our Contact Us page.

Nacarado Quartzite

This stone is Nacardo Quartzite. Quartzite is a 100% natural stone that is quarried like Granite. It tends to look more like marble, but can, depending on the type, have the hardness of granite. Quartzite responds extremely well to the polishing process, and the finished slabs often have a glassy, translucent look to them. Nacarado Quartzite has a creamy or beige background with long, waves of  lighter and darker minerals running horizontally or diagonally across the slabs.

There are not too many granites out there with a strong red color throughout. Red Dragon is a unique, exotic granite with black veins running across a beautiful copper red background.

Our third stone for today is another beautiful quartzite: Madre Perola Quartzite. This is a translucent white stone with a quiet composite pattern. It’s a fantastic stone to place in a room with natural light; its minerals really sparkle in the sunlight.
